 Veracruz Carnival is celebrated since 1866, colonial times, when the country endured the imposition of the empire of Maximilian.
At this time, the jarochos always given to good humor, asked Sunday Bureau, Department senior prefect for permission to celebrate the “Festival of Masks”, masked balls were made in the main social centers of the era, such as theater and in some rooms where the people gave vent to their joy and good humor.
Although the celebrations were exclusively in the classroom, by addressing them took the opportunity to parade the streets, which was celebrated by the people which stood on the sidewalk to participate in the bullanga. Don Domingo Bureau was able to formulate regulations for the celebration of Carnival, is where was born the tradition of the famous Carnival parades Veracruz.
From this century the carnival were growing in their features and aspects, being organized by a committee starts with the Burning of Bad Humor and ends with the Burial of Juan Carnaval.
